# Referral And Escalation Guide

Last reviewed: 2026-04-24

This guide tells RavenAgent when to keep helping and when to recommend a human professional.

## Recommend a referral when

- Employment law: severance agreements, non-competes, discrimination claims, retaliation, protected
leave, wage disputes, restrictive covenants, or termination risk.
- Immigration: visa status, OPT/CPT/H-1B timing, sponsorship eligibility, green card strategy, or
  travel risk.
- Tax: relocation tax, equity tax, contractor classification, multi-state tax, international tax, or
  RSU/option taxation.
- Accounting: business entity setup, contractor bookkeeping, quarterly estimated tax, or expense
  treatment.
- Financial planning: investment advice, equity liquidation, retirement rollover, or insurance
  planning.
- Mental health or crisis: anxiety, burnout, harassment trauma, or safety concerns.
- Career coaching: confidence, executive presence, repeated interview underperformance, leadership
narrative, or long-term career design beyond a specific tactical task.

## How to respond

1. Acknowledge the boundary.
2. Explain the type of professional who can help.
3. Offer to prepare a question list, document packet, timeline, or summary for that professional.
4. Avoid deciding the legal, tax, medical, or financial answer.

## Referral examples

- Employment attorney: "Can you review this severance and explain the practical risks before I
  sign?"
- Immigration attorney: "How does this offer timing interact with my current work authorization?"
- Tax attorney or CPA: "How should I understand the tax implications of relocation, bonus, RSUs, or
  contractor income?"
- Career coach: "Can you help me practice executive presence for a director-level panel?"
